First scientific day of the ORACLE Cluster (Offshore wind Research Accelerator ClustEr)

The first scientific day of the ORACLE Cluster (Offshore wind Research ACcelerator ClustEr) - selected in the NExT call for projects "Integrated Research Clusters - wave 2" - took place on Thursday 7 October 2021. Learn more about the cluster and this event pictures.

This 1st scientific day marked the launch of ORACLE. This cluster is designed for those involved in offshore wind research or those simply curious to discover what the offshore wind sector can offer in terms of collaboration opportunities.

During this event, participants discovered the cluster and its objectives:

  • Provide a structure for the research activities already undertaken by NExT partners in offshore wind
  • Increase the critical mass of researchers involved in the offshore wind sector
  • Develop a multidisciplinary approach, share tools and databases and promote a holistic approach to problems.
  • Boost the international visibility of our offshore wind activities

A comprehensive programme for the next 3 years has been broken down into four types of action in order to achieve these objectives:

  • Action 1 - Scientific coordination in the form of event organisation
  • Action 2 - Scientific collaboration in the form of sharing knowledge, tools and databases
  • Action 3 - Communication and awareness-raising, (internal and external)
  • Action 4 - Support for collaborative action on marine renewable energy at national and European level

This first Scientific Day was also an opportunity for ORACLE partners to present their research activities in the offshore wind sector and the perspectives for transdisciplinary collaborations. Thus, the participants were able to learn more about the existing activities within the scope of NExT thanks to the interventions of CDMO, GeM, IREENA, LEMNA, LETG-Nantes, LHEEA, LS2N and WEAMEC. Funding

Piloted by NExT through a government grant managed by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche under the Investments for the Future Programme (reference ANR-16-IDEX-0007), the Oracle cluster receives financial support from the Pays de la Loire Region and Nantes Métropole.
