Awards for research

Stanford University has updated its list of the world's most cited researchers by their peers for their scientific work. The list, which represents the world's most influential researchers, is based on an international transdisciplinary database. Four more Centrale Nantes researchers have joined the ranking in the past year, i.e. a total of 20 researchers, underlining the quality of the school's scientific research.

Ioannis Stefanou receives an ERC Consolidator Grant for his INJECT project
Preventing human-induced seismicity to fight against climate change is the main thrust of the INJECT project selected in the ERC Consolidator Grant call and led by Professor Ioannis Stefanou at Centrale Nantes and the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM).



Emmanuel Rozière wins the 2022 AFGC (French Civil Engineering Association) prize
The AFGC (Association Française de Génie Civil) prize is awarded to one or more engineers or researchers for outstanding personal work in the scientific and technical field.
Emmanuel Rozière is a professor at Centrale Nantes and head of the Processes and Durability of Materials and Structures (DURPRO) research group in the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM). His research focuses on the durability of construction materials, in particular on the behaviour of cementitious materials and durability.


Hannah Franz, PhD student at Centrale Nantes, awarded the René Houpert 1st Prize from the Association Universitaire de Génie Civil (AUGC)
Hannah Franz is a PhD student at the SIS Doctoral School and Centrale Nantes. She is carrying out her PhD work at the Université Gustave Eiffel (UGE) in Bouguenais. It focuses on assessing the structural performance of riveted lattice beams in metallic railway concourses from 1850-1930.



Imane Elkhaldi wins the prize for best scientific contribution on concrete at the Congrès Français du Génie Civil
Imane Elkhaldi completed her thesis on sustainable concretes at the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM), under the supervision of Professor Ahmed Loukili, and Professor Emmanuel Rozière, as part of the Centrale Nantes - Edycem Chair.



Siddhartha H. Ommi - award-winning finalist for the Ioannis Vardoulakis PhD prize at the ALERT Geomaterials 2023 Workshop
Siddhartha H. Ommi prepared his PhD thesis entitled 'Study of hydro-mechanical instabilities in geomaterials' at the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM), under the supervision of Prof. Giulio Sciarra and co-supervised by Prof. Panagiotis Kotronis at Centrale Nantes. He defended his thesis at the GeM on 14 April 2022. He joined the school as a member of faculty on 1 September 2023.



Rana Al Nemer wins the Best Poster Award during the ALERT Geomaterials 2023 workshop
Rana Al Nemer, postdoctoral researcher at the GeM in the Environmental Geomechanics Research Group, received the Best Poster Award at the ALERT Geomaterials workshop held in Aussois from 25-27 September 2023, for her poster titled “Multiphase Flow through a Granular Material under Hydro-Mechanical Loading.”



Marinelle El Khoury receives the Centrale Innovation 2023 PhD Prize
Marinelle El Khoury completed her PhD in the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM) at Centrale Nantes under the supervision of Professors Frédéric Grondin and Emmanuel Rozière, co-supervised by the Lebanese University under the supervision of Professor Fadi Hage Chehade and Dr Rachid Cortas.
Her thesis prize was awarded for the best research work carried out as part of a PhD.
