Record monthly production for Floatgen in February
Confirming the outstanding production and availability numbers recorded throughout 2019, the 2 MW Floatgen floating offshore wind turbine, equipped with Ideol’s patented floating foundation and installed on the Sem-Rev test site (Atlantic Coast of France), achieved a new record monthly production in February.
on
March 12, 2020
This month of February saw Floatgen achieve a capacity factor of 66.3 % for a power production of 923.2 MWh, highlighting one of the fundamental arguments in favor of accelerating the commercial-scale deployment of floating offshore wind: taking full advantage of the best wind resources one can find further offshore and without any depth constraints.
With a February time availability of 95,7 %, Ideol’s patented technology once again confirms its readiness for commercial-scale deployments, even in severe environments, wherever these may be in the world.
As a reminder, the second half of 2019 saw the floating wind turbine already more than double its first semester power production, reaching an annual total of 6 GWh. This number was achieved because of an average time availability exceeding 94.6 %.
