Are renewable energies the solution? A web conference by Centrale Nantes
Given Centrale Nantes' dual vocation of training and research, the school strives to disseminate knowledge as widely as possible. Aurélien Babarit, research engineer at LHEEA* and specialist in Marine Renewable Energy, talks online about one of Centrale Nantes' 3 strategic themes: energy transition.

Global awareness of climate change - one of the major challenges of the 21st century - has accelerated in recent years, particularly so in France since the COP21. The objectives and pathways to energy transition are the subject of often impassioned debate. This web-conference (in French) aims to provide a comprehensive overview of climate change and renewable energies.
Aurélien Barabarit address two major issues:
What is climate change? The already visible signs of its effects, the causes, and proposals for emission reductions to avoid the most catastrophic consequences.
Can emission reductions be achieved through renewable energies? The different energy sources, their potential, their pros and cons, and the challenges to overcome to support their development.
This web conference also provides the basis for presentations delivered in high schools by Aurélien and several of his fellow researchers.
