Flight record for XSun

For its first long solar-powered flight, XSun achieved an impressive 12-hour flight in nominal conditions (with payload): take off at 8:30am, landing at 8:35pm – a clean, carbon-free, silent and 100% autonomous 600km flight!

This confirms the mathematical, physical simulations and the work done over the last 4 years in terms of research and development. after more than 180 test flights, this endurance test is one of the last major tests from the overall flight validation programme.

This flight expands the field of possibilities previously inaccessible by UAVs. XSun will now be able to start missions with its partners in the fields of infrastructure monitoring, agriculture, mapping and maritime applications.

XSun and Centrale Nantes

Centrale Nantes participated in the research and development of the drone, particularly in the areas of materials, energy management, communication, control and artificial intelligence - key fields within the school. XSun was created within the Centrale-Audencia-ensa Nantes incubator, and as such, benefited from economic and scientific development support.

Centrale Nantes has invested in the start-up via Centrale Innovation, and provides financial support.
