Our ocean research at the "LA MER XXL" exhibition
The sea harbours many secrets and treasures, which man has sought to exploit as a resource for transportation or food. It poses many questions for the scientific community and represents a vast field of study. As part of the "La Mer XXL" exhibition which will take place from 29 June to 10 July 2019 in Nantes, seven key players in higher education and research will come together to present their research on this vast subject to the general public.
From June 29, 2019 to July 10, 2019
All day
Centrale Nantes, CNRS, ENSM, Ifremer, IMT Atlantique, and the Universities of Nantes and Le Mans will present their ocean research work over the course of 12 days. In "
Le Carré des Sciences
", a 1400m2 exhibition area, you'll discover today's and tomorrow's research through exhibitions, games, videos, research experiments and objects.
You can learn what sea measurement buoys are used for and how underwater robots work, or take control of a ship on a simulator, study micro-algae and oysters from every angle, listen to underwater sounds, observe a wind turbine tested in an ocean tank or boat models and much, much more.
You can also meet researchers who will bring scientific research associated with the sea to life for you.
Whether you're young or old, a beginner or an expert, passionate about the sea or just simply curious, come along and explore the exhibition's main themes: Navigate and Explore, Operate Sustainably, Understand and Study, Monitor to Preserve
