Jessy Simon, GeM PhD student, runner-up in the best thesis prize at the Journées Nationales des Composites

Jessy Simon, a PhD student in the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM), received 2nd Prize for the best thesis at the 22nd Journées Nationales des Composites (JNC - National Composites Day), which took place online from 28 to 30 June 2021.

60 candidates were in the running for this prize, which recognises the scientific quality of the thesis work as well as the quality of the presentation in the form of a video.

Jessy Simon has been working on his thesis at the GeM institute since 2018 as part of the PERFORM programme at the IRT Jules Verne, which aims to develop a finite element modelling to simulate the shaping of dry preforms manufactured using the Tailored Fiber Placement (TFP) technology.

He is supervised by Christophe Binetruy (GeM, supervisor) with co-supervision from Nahiene Hamila (IRDL) and Sébastien Comas-Cardona (GeM).
